Blue Jays Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)
The Blue Jays still haven't given up hope that Dustin McGowan, who missed all of 2009 because of shoulder and knee surgery, will be ready by the start of the season.
"It's too early to tell, but there is a scenario that he could (be with the team opening day)," general manager Alex Anthopoulos said. "If he continues to progress well, potentially he could work his way to being a starter for us, but we have to see how he does, how deep he gets into (spring training) games.
"But the opening-day date is not something that we've targeted specifically. It's more when his arm is ready to go. We're not in a rush."
It's doubtful, though not impossible, that McGowan would be ready by the date of the opener, April 5.

Becoming a coach isn't on John McDonald's radar just yet, but while he's playing he enjoys being a mentor to his fellow Toronto Blue Jays infielders.
